STICKYMONGER: POINT OF VIEW

Ross + Kramer is pleased to present Point of View, Stickymonger’s second solo exhibition with the gallery.

October 24 – November 30, 2024

Created using only spray paint, the eight new paintings featured in Point of View mark an evolution in Stickymonger’s dynamic style—her compositions becoming softer, and communicating remarkable depth.

Reflecting on the subject of memory and perspective, they recall an intimate sense of flipping through a photo album, when a vaguely familiar story is beginning to unfold before your eyes or one that you can’t seem to put together. Stickymonger portrays her characters in vulnerable, pensive states which they share with themselves: while eating, reading on the beach, or behind a filtered lens.

Stickymonger’s works converts familiar scenes to dreamlike universes, exploring broader themes of womanhood, anxiety, nostalgia, and the mundane.

Though her influences stem from surrealist masters,‘80s and ‘90s movies to Japanese anime, it is the everyday observations and personal experiences that inform her practice the most: with her unique visual language, Stickymonger captures life’s never ending moments, however strange these may be.
